beckoned to beer

Nymph of the downward smile and sidelong glance,
In what diviner moments of the day
Art thou most lovely? john keats

he gave me a "thumbs up" signal from his sidewalk cafe seat
a smile as broad as his Irish heritage would allow him
then beckoned with his youthful gesture to come, come and join him!

St. Patrick may have driven the snakes out of an Irish town , but this day in America the snakes come back and wallow in the drafts of beer being sucked down by descendents of the earthy lot known as the Irish whose love for good story may lead them to try almost anything.

for a moment, i the traveler thru a town full of green shirts and green beer
sitting still in my car waiting for the light to turn felt a stirring
thumbs up to Life thumbs up to the New Spring heralding !
thumbs up that
for a moment a youthful and mischevious sparkle in someone's eye
could put a smile on my face .
old enough to be his grandmother .... i thought
but , smiled at this lad anyway..... another time i gestured
and thanks for reminding me.
